Anonymous posting enabled, with approval.
Hello..
Libervis.com just became even more "liber"-al. From now on, every anonymous user can post be it replying to threads or opening new ones, even editing, but only after a webmaster or possibly a moderator approval.
I am posting this very thread without being logged in.
Why this? Well, what was the reason of denying anonymous users to post? To avoid spam and alike posts, to increase quality and security. But hey, why wouldn't we allow them to post, but posts wont appear instantly, but would be subject to approval instead. This way we can filter spam and bad content from good and still allow people to say something without registering permanently or just because they don't want their identity of any kind disclosed (even if it's just a nick or email address (to the webmaster))
So, basically, there are two reasons why someone might find this beneficiary:
1) Post anonymously (not disclosing identity)
2) When not sure about registering (and then remembering the password and all), but still wanting something to say. This, when such post recieve replies can still make the poster decide to register afterall, but then, he'll be more determined and inclined to do so. Such posters can still enter their nick or any identifier in the field if they wish. (just as i did here)
Isn't that good? :-)
EDIT: Of course, nothing can still substitute registering and posting with a real account. ;-)
Thank you
Daniel

If say, 10 posts were made, wouln't it be annoying for you to have to read and allow each one...?

If the area around my avatar is dark gray chances are you are using MS Internet Explorer, one of the few browsers that do not have full PNG-24 support. Considered trying [url=http://bro

I'm afraid this is going to be a decision you're going to take back VERY soon. There's an infinite amount of typing monkeys out there and they aren't producing the works of Shakespeare...
But we'll see what happens.

Well the other thing he could do is assign moderators who can view the entries that are pending acceptance and then once reviewed, the mod can then add them to their respective threads? That is what Drupal does, so I hope that XOOPs allows it too...?

Well.. we'll see how it goes, certainly.
But actually, i'm not expecting much of the anonymous posts anyway. :-P This is just for the sake of enabling one other way of communicating, but i don't think there will be like 10 posts to approve at a time..no way.. maybe later when the site will have more than a few thousand visits per day (it has about 700 right now), but then i can provide all moderators an access to the forum admin area by adjusting permissions and creating a link directly to the page for approvals. The way xoops works, it would also enable you to modify forums, categories and everything forum related, but then i'd just have to rely on trust i put in you as moderators :-)
Thanks

Just caught me out, Here I am reading the forums not thinking about log on status, and I spy a forum post that catches my interest, scrolling down to bottom, see a lot of green in the permissions section, post away, Hmmm. what is this message about approval. Continue reading forums until reading this one....
I really should pay more attention.

When the time comes, pick specific people for specific jobs. Co-admins, supermods and mods. But, yes trust does come into it. :-)
