Against net neutrality

Considering that I am a voluntaryist (or for the newbies to the term; a left libertarian, or anarcho-capitalist) I am by default against any and all legislation. Still it's good to offer arguments behind why is a particular legislation bad and I've found an article which explains why would the net neutrality regulation be bad:

The Great Firewall of Net Neutrality.

I suppose you might be one of the 4 billion people who have supposedly watched the opening ceremony of Olympics in Bejing so there's a good chance there's no need for me to introduce you to what it is.

Does technology really matter?

I still define liberty as a state of being in which you're free to do "whatever floats your boat as long as it doesn't sink mine". From my perspective this reflects non-aggression or non-coercion and obviously requires tolerance. It is predicated on the belief that even while you believe others to be wrong about their beliefs and their acts to be evil, you would not interfere by force if they don't initiate force on you or anyone else.

Service Nation?

Anyone heard of a project called Service Nation?

Apparently they're trying to compell everyone in United States to do public service on September 27th 2008, in a nutshell. They, of course, speak of stuff like unity, being the change and all the other warm and fuzzy things. As it usually happens this, in fact quite heinous project, is being clothed into all of the good buzz words and slogans they can think of.

V for Vendetta

Has anyone here watched this movie called "V for Vendetta"? What did you think of it?

I did recently and it's gotta be one of the best movies I've ever watched. I might have not said something like some months ago, but from where I stand today the movie is a perfect fit, might even call it positively life changing and incredibly inspiring.

Encouraging projects development

One of the ideas behind the 2008 revision of Libervis.com is to encourage more practical undertakings, in addition to discussions, where people would propose and cooperate on projects which promote responsible uses of technology, uses which promote freedom.

Merging with technology?

There are people, like Ray Kurzweil, who believe that it will be inevitable for humans to start merging with our own technology in order to improve our capabilities. Ever since humans existed we created tools, even before we started calling these tools "technology", and it was always essentially an extension of ourselves which allows us to do more with less therefore growing our capabilities.
